MEMS Research Positions

University of Newcastle, Australia (Newcastle, Australia)

Overview

We are seeking several postdoctoral research fellows and PhD students to join our multidisciplinary research group which aims to design, fabricate, model, control and experimentally test novel MEMS-based transducers for applications such as implantable biomedical devices, mask-less nanolithography, probe-based storage systems and ultra-fast scanning probe microscopy. The positions are associated with the Laboratory for Dynamics & Control of Nanosystems at the University of Newcastle, Australia. Postdoctoral positions are available for two to five years. They attract an academic Level A, or B salary in the range of $47,384 - $80,382 per year, depending on qualifications and experience, plus superannuation. PhD scholarships attract a tax-free living allowance of $20,000-$25,000.

Requirements

The applicants for postdoctoral positions are expected to have a PhD in a relevant area (or be close to completion), and be familiar with MEMS fabrication processes and MEMS characterization. Familiarity with analog electronics design, feedback control systems and rapid prototyping systems is a major plus. Familiarity with scanning probe techniques is also highly valued. The applicants for PhD scholarships are expected to have an undergraduate (honors or equivalent), or a masters degree from a well known university in a relevant field.

Responsibilities

-Research in MEMS based transducers, MEMS fabrication processes and characterization, application of MEMS transducers in implantable biomedical devices, mask-less nanolithography, probe-based storage systems and ultra-fast scanning probe microscopy

Application

To be considered for these positions, the applicants should send their CV including a list of publications and names and addresses of three referees to Professor Reza Moheimani and Dr. Mehmet Yuce (contact email: Mehmet.Yuce@newcastle.edu.au ). The search will continue until all positions are filled.
