Bio-MEMs Post-Doctoral Fellowship

Overview

Public Bionanotechnology Company seeks Bio-MEMS post-doc fellow in the development of novel BioMEMs devices with a background in molecular biology and protein chemistry. Successful candidate must be a creative thinker with excellent written and oral communication skills and a track record of invention and reduction to practice. Primary responsibilities include: Develop concept, design and fabricate innovative microfabricated devices. Evaluate prototype devices for performance and modify as needed to improve performance and determine final specifications. Investigates, creates and develops new methods and technologies for project advancement, regularly exercising technical discretion in design, execution and interpretation of experiments that contribute to project. Participates in authoring and contributing materials to grants, patents, reports and papers for publication, presentations and for use with research activities.

Requirements

PhD degree in an engineering field (e.g., electronics, mechanics, chemistry, material science or related field) or biosciences with MEMS experience. Research experience using micro and nanofabrication techniques. Must have experience in the development of microcantilever or other types of sensors, and microfluidic and/or lab on a chip devices. Experience with optics and electronics highly desirable. Excellent skills in the use of common microfabrication, micromachining and microanalysis instrumentation. Working knowledge of AutoCAD, LinkCAD, SolidWorks and/or other design software. Must be proficient in standard laboratory methods including protein chemistry and optical/ fluorescence microscopy. Excellent communication skills. Ability to write proposals, publication quality materials, reports and correspondences. Ability to speak clearly and effectively. This position is located in Ames, Iowa.
