Overview

Iris AO, Inc. (www.irisao.com) develops groundbreaking adaptive-optics (AO) components and systems using microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) technology. Iris AO is searching for a test and characterization engineer to join a leader in the adaptive optics revolution. The engineer will work as part of a small team to design, build, and test cutting-edge deformable mirrors for AO.

Requirements

BS/MS EE, ME, Physics, Material Science, or some related field and a minimum of 3 years directly related experience in MEMS or semiconductor test and characterization. -- Expertise in optical MEMS device characterization, fabrication-process development, and QA and a clear understanding of how these functions relate to each other. -- Ability to work across many disciplines, with practical hands-on experience -- Excellent problem solving skills to make data-driven decisions -- Strong analysis skills, independent thinker, self starter, proactive, innovative -- A good team player with demonstrated interpersonal skills, good verbal and written communication skills -- Entrepreneurial mindset to help move the business forward --- Technical Requirements: Experience in a Majority of the Following -- Test and characterization system development: understanding of test equipment and interfacing to the equipment with a PC and GPIB -- General MEMS characterization and failure analysis techniques including: electrical testing, interferometry, laser doppler vibrometry, SEM, emission microscopy, EDX, and SIMS -- C/C++ and Matlab programming -- Candidates with the following experience are preferred - -- Optical design and alignment -- PCB layout

Responsibilities

Optical, electrical, and mechanical characterization of MEMS deformable mirrors and drive electronics -- Develop custom test and calibration systems -- Develop and manage QA procedures -- Provide technical support for Iris AO products -- Contribute to technical marketing including preparing for trade shows, building demo systems, and developing marketing collateral -- Take on as needed business responsibilities such as managing sales contacts, updating the website, grant management, etc.
