Overview

A Physical Scientist will be required to serve as the (Team Leader) that will direct and manage the day-to-day Specialty Electronic Materials and Sensors Cleanroom (SEMASC) operations to ensure the SEMASC and associated equipment are operating for the Directorate and associated customers at peak efficiency by ensuring the SEMASC is safe and functional for all users; performing: short - and long-term equipment infrastructure and facilities planning and installation; modification, operation, and maintenance of Nano, MEMS, and Semiconductor equipment; coordination of tool vendor support; inventory control and ensuring adequate supply of consumable materials; develop annual budget and prioritize and track expenditures; development of procurement data packages; performing as contract Technical Point of Contact for support contracts; training new SEMASC users; maintain logistic/property accountability for all SEMASC capital equipment.

Requirements

ONE YEAR SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE EQUIVALENT TO THE GS-13 LEVEL IS REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE is defined as understanding facility and research issues to enable short- and long-range planning; initiating research, development, and operations programs following agency policy; evaluating and coordinating planning, programming, and budgetary information; coordinating research, development, and operations programs to optimize use of resources; construction estimating; documentation, supervision, inspection and quality assurance.(ADVANCED DEGREE AND RESEARCH RECORD: Masters and/or Doctorate degree, a record of research publication and related recognition is highly desired.

Responsibilities

You will serve as a Physical Scientist Team Leader involved with directing and managing professional and non-professional employees and contractors performing a wide variety of scientific and experimental tasks to ensure the clean room, all support, and Research and Development equipment are operating at peak efficiency in a secure environment. Work involves engineering and services; procurement data packages; clean room master planning; industrial engineering; and modification, operation, and maintenance of R&D equipment. Expertise, knowledge and skills include: understanding facility and research issues to enable short- and long-range planning; initiating research, development, and operations programs following agency policy; evaluating and coordinating planning, programming, and budgetary information; coordinating research, development, and operations programs to optimize use of resources; construction estimating; documentation, supervision, inspection and quality assurance.

Application

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. U.S. Citizenship required. The ARL Adelphi site is located in Prince Georges County. A metropolitan area, bordered to the south by Washington DC and to the north by Baltimore. It is approximately 30 miles south of Baltimore and the White Marsh area, and 10 miles north of Washington DC.
