The R&D engineer will work in a variety of areas, including both new product design from scratch, productization of technology with outside partnerships (e.g., academia, government labs), and research into new processes. The candidate will have a good mix of extensive practical experience and the ability and willingness to research, experiment, and coordinate between the various technological disciplines required to develop an integrated product into a complex electro-mechanical-optical SPM system. A main area of effort will be in the development of SPM MEMS-based probes to measure the chemical, biological, and electrical properties of materials and processes at the nanoscale, down to and including molecular and atomic dimensions.
