Senior/Principal MEMS Design Engineer

Overview

A start-up MEMS company in the San Francisco Bay Area is looking for a Senior/Principal MEMS Design Engineer to design, model, test and characterize MEMS devices. The company is currently manufacturing one of the HOT MEMS products in high volume (>5M units/month) with a wholly-owned large MEMS packaging facility in Eastern China. It has established the whole food chain for MEMS products, including MEMS chip design & manufacturing, IC chip design & manufacturing, and MEMS packaging & testing. It has also built an elite and experienced R&D team in Silicon Valley that is responsible for new product development and the new position will be part of the team.

Requirements

  • M.S. in MEMS, mechanical, or electrical engineering with 5+ years of industry experience in MEMS sensor design, particularly in the areas of MEMS accelerometer, gyroscope, resonator, or similar device;
  • 5+ years experience with FEA (ANSYS/COMSOL), L-EDIT, and MATLAB or similar software;
  • Deep knowledge in MEMS fabrication processes and experience in working with MEMS foundries;
  • Strong analog and digital laboratory bench skills. Ability to debug and characterize analog and digital devices using spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, etc.
  • Experience with test software such as Labview, Agilent Vee, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Develop finite element model and theoretic analysis of MEMS devices;
  • Work with MEMS foundries for process development and prototype fabrication;
  • Set up test system, perform measurements and analyze results for key parameters of MEMS chips;
  • Develop MEMS products from the initial conceptual validation stage to the final production validation stage.
