hi
I am using Ansys electrostatic analysis to extarct the capacitance of a
comb drive. I compared the Ansys results with Coventer and Intellisuite. I
took same example that is given in Ansys help(14.4. Doing an Example
p-Electrostatic Analysis (Command Method)) but i got very lesser value.
then I did 3D air structure around the comband got somewhat same results.
My questions are..
1. Is it right to model the 3D air around the structure to get the total
capacitance with fringing in all the directions.
2. Is there any criteria to optimise the size of air model that is
modelled around the structure.
3. what is the significance of applying 0 volt to the air model surronding
the structure. But even if i don't apply 0 volt to the boundary I end up
with same results.
I will come back with more questions,
I would appreciate if anyone can help me out.
Thanking you,,,,,,

Satish.
