A laser pointer can be pointed at an angle very close
to the bending edge such that the reflected beam fall
on a wall at a distance. Small deflection of the beam
edge will result in larger displacement of the
reflected laser point on the wall which can be
measured easily and further geometrically interpreted
for the membrane deflection. ( idea courtesy: Mr
