In response to Dylan Bryant's query about "jumping":

If one makes a micromachined coil, of the kind
shown by Prof. Mark Allen's group at Georgia
Tech, over which one places the "jumper", and
discharges a pulse of current through the coil,
the induced eddy currents and corresponding
Lorenz force can produce a nice "jump".  /sds
