Peter,

The trick is to not let the nickel dry, because it will immediately form an
oxide layer.

Take the piece out of the nickel bath and dip it directly into deionized
water. Then immediately put it in the gold plating bath and plate.

This always gave us good adhesion.

Good luck,

  David Nemeth

Subject: [mems-talk] Au plating on Ni layer

Dear all,

What kind of pre treatment of the Ni layer must I use to obtain a good
adhesion of the plated Au layer??
Ni was plated using a NiCl solution, Au was plated using Aurofab BP, but
adhesion was very bad.
Thanks,

Peter Kuijpers
