Advice on building a roll coater

Hello,

I'm considering building a roll coater for coating thick (200 um) layers
of SU-8 2150 on microscope slides, to avoid edge beads and reduce waste.
Optical components (translation stages, angle brackets, clamps, etc.)
seem to be good building blocks for this.

I'd appreciate any advice anyone can give me, including the pitfalls I
might encounter. I've read a past suggestion on this list about using a
razor blade instead of a roller - can anyone give any practical evidence
or fluid dynamics arguments as to which would be better, or how about a
flat surface as a third option, e.g. a PTFE block?

Best regards,

Ken Healy
