Hi:
I don't think PLZT likes being stored at 700K. What is its Curie
Temperature? If it is near 700K you are depoling the sample. Also, the
translucence of PLZT is due to oxygen vacancies. You may be, depending on
the atmosphere you are working in, either increasing(oxidizing atmosphere)
or decreasing (reducing or passive atmosphere) the number of these
vacancies. If you heat PLZT to the temperature you are operating at in a
weak vacuum, say 10-3+  torr, it will look like a charcoal briquette within
ten minutes. I hope this helps.
