Hi all:
Does anybody know why the bottom gladding  of wave
guides is traditionally 15 um? In other words: What
thickness must the bottom thermal oxide under the wave
guid core really have to conduct single mode light?
It seems to me a few um of thermal oxide should do.
Pointers to literature would be appreciated.
