Emer,
I am not sure I entirely understand your question. by
definition PMMA is already a polymer and therefore has
linkages between the MMA groups. PMMA is used as a
resist because it becomes soluble under deep UV light
due to chain scission.
If you want to crosslink the PMMA chains into higher
molecular weight compounds, you could try 2,2,
dimethoxy- 2-phenylacetophenone (DMPA). This is a
photoinitiator that cross linkes arcylic end groups in
the prescence of UV light. Other compunds that help
are trimethylolpropane triacrylate (TPT) that has
three acrylic endgroups to create branching networks
of polymer chains.
I have never tried crosslinking PMMA this way though,
but the chemistry works with other compounds with free
acylate ends.
