Question about MgF2

Hi all,
I need to electrically insulate two gold film and I was wonderng if I
could use a layer of magnesium fluoride between the two. Do you know the
minimum thickness required to have electrical insulation?
Alternatively, do you know of any other material which would be useful to
achieve the same result? One constraint is that it should be possible to
evaporate this material in a thermal evaporator.
Thank you very much for all your help
Fabio
