Dear mems-talk users,
This is a public service announcement from the mems-talk moderation
team.
There appears to be some confusion surrounding some of the policies we
are trying to promote in the operation of mems-talk.
Because the size of the mems-talk mailing list is very large, we are
trying to discourage answers to certain 'non-discussion' type
questions from being rebroadcast to the entire list... but ONLY those
questions that do not seem to encourage meaningful dialog.
Questions like "Where can I find the cheapest SOI wafers?" or "What
fabs in the bay area perform deep reactive ion etching?" do not
really promote the learning-oriented dialog we're trying to establish
on mems-talk and is therefore of questionable value for the entire
mailing list.
You may ask these types of questions, but if in your opinion, you feel
that only you will benefit from the answers you receive, we ask that
you request that answers only be sent to you and not the entire list.
Answers to these questions tend to be from vendors interested in
self-promotion which we are trying to minimize on mems-talk. For
these purposes we encourage the use of the "mems-business" and
"mems-announce" mailing lists. More information on these lists can be
found here:

As always, please post and reply to the mems-talk in plain text
messages. HTML and attachments do not archive very well and consume
much more bandwidth.
Regards,
mems-talk moderation team at the MEMS and Nanotechnology Clearinghouse
