Cheers!
This is a bit late answer to both of you:
VTI Hamlin (Finland) is a leading manufacturer of silicon bulk micromachined
accelerometers especially for low-g measurement. They produce other mechanical
silicon sensors as well;
current annual volume is a few millions, rapidly expanding. Main applications
are automotive safety and electronic drive control, pacemakers, earthquake
sensors, inclination monitoring etc. VTI uses capacitive measurement and have
beated traditional piezoresistive sensors in many applications.
