Hi, I'm using Coventor 2004 and I' ve got a problem with the simulation of
the dinamic behaviour of a micro-cantilever (made of Crystal Silicon).
The solver I use is MemMech and my analysis type is "Mechanical with
Modal+Harmonic".
My problem is the following: the only type of damping I can set is "modal
damping" (in the setting window of MemMech choosing the default value of
0.1). I can't set the "Rayleigh Damping": even if I insert in the "Volume
BCs" (Material Damping) window non-zero values of Alfa and Beta, it seems
that the solver completely ignore these values. In the Mode Domain results
window each mode has always a 0.0 value in the Damping column.
In the Setting Window of MemMech I chose "Steady State" for Time Dependence
and I've tried both a Linear analysis and a non-Linear analysis. I' ve also
found some on-line manuals of ABAQUS, but ,since it's not a long time that I
use Coventor, I still can' t understand fully what exactly does MemMech
during the simulation.
Thanks a lot for an answer!!!
